Family Residence- Extension & Remodel.
Brief_design rationale
The project aim was to space plan and produce visualizations for the simple loft extension of a semi-detached bungalow to accommodate the changing space requirements of the clients' family. The new upper floor extension above the main house allows space for a bedroom with the privacy of an en-suite for their occasionally visiting older son, and a larger master bedroom with en-suite for the parents; while the older granny annex remains. The cladding and style of new extension aims to match that of the existing extension that lies over the double garage space. The remaining loft space will act as much needed storage and can be accessed via the original hallway loft hatch. Downstairs, the smallest bedroom, previously the youngest child's bedroom, is opened up to create space for a light filled open stairway and snug; the parent's and son's bedroom, now re-organized into a guest room, and the younger daughter's bedroom. The interior decoration is also updated from it's dated original 1970's build to give it a fresher, yet comfortable homely feel.
